The latest playlist in a collection going back more than 30 years originating from the time when an empty cassette tape cost £1. Oldest best friends gather in alternating houses at Christmas, share the same jokes, culinary specialities, and presents costing no more than £1. Digital technology has caught up with us, so now it’s a Spotify playlist. Not all the tunes will be to all’s taste: pick, choose and enjoy where it hits you.
… ah, yes. What the hell is Amaxophobia, and more to the point, why? Said collection of oldest best friends for some obscure reason is known amongst us as ‘The Maxes’. No one knows why. None of us is called Max. Alternate explanations are proposed every year. Title of each annual playlist has therefore to include the syllable ‘Max’.
… and Amaxophobia is defined as ‘an irrational and persistent fear of driving or riding in a vehicle, such as a car, bus, or plane’. No connection, no songs about cars, though there are two versions of one about a motorbike – see ‘From Box Hill to Knoxville‘.
